Job Summary:

The Media Strategist will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive brand strategies to enhance the visibility, reputation, and recognition of Open Foundation West Africa. This role requires a creative and strategic thinker with a strong understanding of branding principles and techniques. The Media Strategist will work closely with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure consistency and coherence in the organization's brand identity and messaging across all channels and platforms.


Key Responsibilities:


Brand Strategy Development:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive brand strategy aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and values.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify target audiences, market trends, and competitor positioning.
  • Define brand positioning, messaging, and value propositions that differentiate Open Foundation West Africa in the marketplace.

Brand Identity and Visual Design:

  • Manage the organization's brand identity, including logos, visual assets, and brand guidelines.
  • Oversee the design and production of brand collateral, marketing materials, and promotional merchandise.
  • Ensure consistency and adherence to brand standards across all internal and external communications channels.

Content Creation and Storytelling:

  • Develop compelling content and storytelling narratives that communicate the organization's mission, impact, and values.
  • Produce written content, including articles, blog posts, and press releases, for use in marketing campaigns and communications materials.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to gather content and testimonials from beneficiaries, stakeholders, and partners.

Photography and Videography:

  • Capture high-quality photographs and videos to visually represent the organization's programs, events, and activities.
  • Coordinate photo and video shoots, including location scouting, talent casting, and equipment setup.
  • Edit and produce multimedia content for use in marketing materials, social media channels, and promotional campaigns.

Social Media Management:

  • Develop and implement social media strategies to increase brand awareness, engagement, and audience growth.
  • Manage and maintain the organization's presence on social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Create and curate content for social media posts, including graphics, videos, and interactive content, to drive user engagement and interaction.

Brand Awareness and Marketing Campaigns:

  • Develop and implement marketing campaigns and initiatives to increase brand awareness and visibility.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Officer and other team members to create engaging content and storytelling that reinforces the organization's brand narrative.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing efforts, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure brand engagement and impact.

Brand Partnerships and Sponsorships:

  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with brands, organizations, and influencers to amplify brand reach and exposure.
  • Negotiate and manage sponsorships, endorsements, and co-branding opportunities that align with the organization's values and objectives.
  • Collaborate with partners to develop joint marketing initiatives and campaigns that leverage shared audiences and resources.

Brand Reputation Management:

  • Monitor and manage the organization's online reputation, including social media channels, review sites, and media coverage.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to inquiries, feedback, and comments from stakeholders, ensuring a positive brand experience.
  • Implement crisis communication plans and strategies to address and mitigate brand-related issues or controversies.



Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or a related field. Master's degree is an added advantage.
  • At least 2 years of experience in brand management, marketing, or related roles, preferably in the nonprofit or social impact sector.
  • Strong understanding of branding principles, strategies, and best practices, with proven experience in developing and implementing successful brand campaigns.
  • Creative thinker with excellent design sensibility and the ability to translate brand concepts into compelling visual assets.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Proficiency in brand management software and tools, as well as familiarity with digital marketing platforms and analytics.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in content creation, photography, videography, and social media management tools and platforms.
